John Rose, then vice president of the board of Tennessee FFA, was one of the attendees at the convention. Shortly after, Chelsea received the Jerry and Betty Williams Rose Scholarship, named after Rose’s parents. Less than four years later, the couple married, according to an engagement announcement in the now-defunct local Eagleville Times. Chelsea was 21, and Rose was a 45-year-old software executive who was very active in FFA and was president of the board at Chelsea’s college.
Chelsea’s approach
In an interview with the Murfreesboro Post in 2010, Chelsea credited Rose for helping her earn the scholarship. She said, “John made everything possible for me in FFA beyond high school. Through the scholarship he provided, I didn’t have to work during college.” Chelsea said the scholarship helped her focus on FFA and school. She also said Rose coached her during her preparation, which was extremely helpful.
Political career of John Rose
John Rose entered Congress in 2018 after a successful career in business and a term as Tennessee’s agriculture commissioner.
